Artist statement
I knew as a child I would spend my life creating artwork. I
love variety and have taught myself assorted crafts: weaving, clothing
design, surface art, beading etc. Ceramics being my main focus now. I
love the challenge that working with ceramics offers; the versatility
of clay and endless possibilities. Along with my fascination with color
which has provided me with motivation to expand my palette and
challenge myself with color relationships.
I am drawn to function and enjoy the thought of my work
making everyday life beautiful! I am a perfectionist and am constantly
in search of the perfect surface and ideal form, while striving to
create pots that have life and vitality.
My ceramics are both hand-built and wheel thrown. I do a variety
of surface decoration, lace prints, drawing and, or carving into the
clay. Glazes are brushed on and then High fired (midrange) or low fired
in an electric kiln.
